COLLABORATIONS

For many years Katherine has extended her personal creative dialogue in her own production into a collective experience, through curation, mentoring and collaboration.  To this end she renovated her studio space, The Forge, in Kalk Bay in 2007.  The building was originally a blacksmith’s forge at the turn of the last century, and today the building is used for Katherine’s own work and for collaborative or experimental work in dance, music, writing and the visual arts.

Her collaborative explorations have taken her work to the beaches of the Cape and to the Antarctic while bringing artists from New Zealand, Mali and Austria to work with her.

Of the Forge she says  “Creativity, communion and community provide fire for the heart’s furnace. The Forge is a space making place. It is a listening place… Its founding impulse is to do with a broad sense of human currency.”
