Cosmos Room
The cosmos room (the central bedroom of the house) is where the double bed is. Above on the ceiling, is a roughly painted rendering of a circular dark ‘firmament’, intersected by slender battens holding up the ceiling board. Here, a confluence of a suggested ‘infinite’ and the fabric of house construction, are seen side by side. It is both tongue in check and yet serious. The battens suggest the impossible task of cordoning off mystery and dividing it into theory. Epistemological musings.
It is a room of light and dark, of the masculine and feminine together creating form. The central vessel in the room shows a shining, reflective darkness in the center of the pure white porcelain form.
Here the ordinary and mystery abide together. Stones in water, form altering reflections, floorboards, sand, sheens and pouring time.
