Remarkable in it’s translucency and luminosity, the porcelain vessel has been Katherine’s central voice since the early eighties. Her explorations of light, movement, water, earth and sound have found form through thrown and slip cast porcelain vessels.
Her award-winning creations can be seen in all the major public art museums in South Africa as well as having been exhibited abroad, of late most regularly in New York since 2006. In 2011 the Museum of Art and Design in New York purchased a work for their permanent collection.
Having begun exhibiting her vessels in 1983 in South Africa, her work has evolved over many distinct styles and over many years of dedicated practice. Recently she began exhibiting work in other media and expanding her visual pursuits into drawing and painting and working with resin.
